Everything You Need to Know About Savi’s Workshop
Savi’s Workshop at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge offers an immersive experience where guests can craft their very own custom lightsaber. This guide will walk you through every step, from making a reservation to selecting your hilt and kyber crystal, ensuring you’re fully prepared for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Making a Reservation for Savi’s Workshop
Due to its popularity, securing a spot at Savi’s Workshop requires advance planning. Here’s how to do it:
-
Booking: Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance through the Disney World or Disneyland websites, or via the My Disney Experience app. Please note: Theme park admission is also required on the day of your experience.
-
Walk-ups: Limited same-day availability is possible, but highly unlikely, especially during peak seasons.
-
Cost: The experience currently costs $249.99 + tax per lightsaber, which includes the build experience and a carrying case.
-
Guests Allowed: Each builder may bring one guest, but only the builder participates in the construction. (On rare occasions I've been allowed to bring in two guests. It's really at the Cast Members discretion but the rule is one. Now if you have small children and there's not another adult in your party they will allow you to bring in more than one child.)
Choosing Your Lightsaber Theme
At Savi’s Workshop, you’ll select from four unique lightsaber hilt themes, each with a distinct aesthetic and lore:
-
Peace and Justice – Inspired by Jedi of the Republic era, featuring sleek, noble designs.
-
Power and Control – A Sith-inspired design with aggressive, dark elements.
-
Elemental Nature – Incorporates natural materials like wood, bone, and leather.
-
Protection and Defense – Features ancient, mysterious designs with engravings and symbols.
The Building Process: What to Expect
Once inside the workshop, the experience unfolds in a carefully orchestrated ceremony:
-
Hilt Assembly: You’ll receive a kit with pieces based on your selected theme and customize the grip, emitter, pommel, and activation plates. Generally, you will get two options for each lightsaber hilt part based on your selected theme.
-
Kyber Crystal Selection: Choose from blue, green, red, or violet to determine your saber’s blade color. (You cannot get white or yellow Kyber Crystals during the ceremony but those additional color can be purchased at other places after the ceremony)
-
Blade Activation: The most magical moment—your lightsaber ignites for the first time as part of an immersive experience.
Extras & Accessories
In addition to the standard build, several accessories are available:
-
Additional Kyber Crystals – Purchase extra crystals at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities to change your blade color ($17.99 each). Additionally, Kyber Crystals can now finally be purchased online through the Disney Store! You can also step by the Star Wars: Galactic Outpost store in Disney Springs.
-
Legacy Lightsaber Hilts – If you prefer a character-inspired saber, visit Dok-Ondar’s to find replicas from iconic Star Wars characters.
-
Lightsaber Clips & Display Stands – Essential for storage and display, available at Dok-Ondar’s or online.
How to Display Your Lightsaber at Home
Once home, you’ll want a proper way to showcase your custom lightsaber. Our Lightsaber Wall Mounts provide a secure and stylish solution to display your saber, keeping it safe while showing off your craftsmanship. We also offer Kyber Crystal Display Holders for collectors looking to organize their crystals.
Final Tips for an Unforgettable Experience
-
Arrive Early – Check in at least 15 minutes before your reservation.
-
Capture the Moment – Have your guest record the experience (flash photography is discouraged inside the workshop).
-
Protect Your Saber – While a carrying case is included, consider a hard case for flights or long-term storage. Just note it's not required, Especially considering MCO is very used to seeing lightsabers carried around everywhere in Orlando and the MCO Airport TSA won't even bat an eye at it.
Savi’s Workshop is more than just a souvenir stop—it’s a fully immersive adventure into the Star Wars universe. Whether you wield the power of the Jedi or embrace the dark side, your custom-built lightsaber is a symbol of your journey.
May the Force be with you!
